NEW YORK (AP) - Seattle Sounders midfielder Osvaldo Alonso has suspended two games and fined an undisclosed amount for a reckless challenge during a match against Columbus earlier in the week.

Osvaldo was penalized Friday for sliding with feet raised and his studs showing and using excessive force against the Crew's Cole Grossman in the 82nd minute of Columbus' 2-0 victory Wednesday night.

The disciplinary committee also added a game to the suspension of Los Angeles Galaxy midfielder Hector Jimenez and fined him an undisclosed amount for a similar play against San Jose's Steven Beitashour in the 59th minute of a 3-2 loss to the Earthquakes on Wednesday. Jiminez received a red card on the play, carrying an automatic one-game suspension.
