Tax Relief Options | Articles Twinkle

Tax Network USA often sees clients who must face the most dreadful and unthinkable IRS collection technique known. One of the most daunting and contemptible forms of collection is a bank levy, frequently performed by the Internal Revenue Service in situations when a taxpayer has been informed numerous times of an unresolved tax issue. When your bank account is under a levy, the IRS has the legal right to take hold of your savings and use the funds to take care of your tax debt.

The IRS has become more technologically savvy in the past few decades, making them harder to avoid by those with tax debt. With this increase in IRS prowess, unethical companies who prey on the susceptibility of ignorant customers have also risen. Although times are tough, it is never a good idea to avoid the IRS. You must first choose the right professional to help solve your financial fiasco. These tips should help clear up any questions you may have about picking a trustworthy company.

The first warning you need to keep your eyes open for is companies that exaggerate their success rate. Far too often, firms distort how well they can help clients. They are guilty of embellishing how much experience and skill their company has to offer. If the company is too keen to take on your case without taking an in depth look into your financial situation, they are most likely after your money.

Installment Agreement, Full or Partial ? Installment Agreements are a favorable option for those who do not qualify for an OIC. You may be granted up to five years to repay what you owe as well as interest. This is typically if you owe less than $25,000 and you may apply yourself. If you cannot pay the full amount or owe more than $25,000, you may qualify for a partial payment plan. In this scenario, you should contact Tax Network USA to assist you through the process. This is when the IRS rears its ugly face to collect as much as possible from you, leaving you with only enough to pay for your most meager essentials. It is obvious why procuring the help of an expert would be beyond beneficial; you can end up pay far less than what the IRS demands. Currently Non Collectible ? This is a constructive solution if you do not qualify for an OIC that necessitates you pay more than you can provide due to property you may have. OICs take a look at all your assets, including property with equity, cars with equity, or retirement accounts. Currently Non Collectibles, or CNCs are only concerned with your monthly income.

Before you are granted CNC status however, the IRS may require you to liquidate savings accounts, stocks, bonds, and mutual funds accounts. The IRS will resume collection if your finances improve. They will take the time to go through your finances on occasion. If you are under a CNC status, the IRS will file a tax lien against you, resulting in a major headache. Applying for CNC can be tricky; contact Tax Network USA to discuss your options.

Bankruptcy ? It?s possible to clear IRS debts under Chapter 7 bankruptcy or incorporated into a Chapter 13 bankruptcy. There are three stipulations under which the bankruptcy should fit. The tax debt must be due for three years, the tax filing must be filed for two years, and tax assessment must be in place for two hundred forty days. Furthermore, not every type of IRS tax debt is qualifies for inclusion in a chapter 7 bankruptcy. Contact a tax professional at Tax Network USA to assess your current standing.

If a firm guarantees any result before reviewing your case, beware. This is the simplest way of recognizing a scam. There are never any guarantees so matter what the situation. Ipso facto, anyone making outlandish promises before even viewing your information bears false information. The best one can offer is a practical solution with no assurances. There are also times when it is best to work directly with the IRS. For example, if you owe less than ten thousand dollars, a tax mediation firm will not have much use for your case as they will want to earn their fee. Small debts like these can be negotiated directly with the IRS

Prevention And Treatment Of Heartburn Or Acid Reflux

The most common digestive system disorder people experience is heartburn, which is related to acid reflux. Often many people will encounter heartburn or acid reflux during the night. If that happens, a burning sensation is felt in the chest. This particular pain is similar to heart attack symptoms. However, heartburn acid reflux is also a very serious disease that can affect many people including infants and small children. Babies usually grow out of this condition after a time while most young children will likely experience acid reflux in their lifetime.? Meanwhile, many adults likely will feel the possible consequences of this condition due to their lifestyle and eating habits.

Understanding how heartburn occurs is essential for those who are diagnosed with acid reflux disease.. Eating habits or lifestyle factors should be modified to prevent heartburn.

As such, unhealthy eating or eating excessively in time can cause improper movement of gastric juices in the lower part of the esophagus to occur, which causes heartburn that can eventually result in GERD.

The juices in the stomach area are highly acidic. If the gastric juice touches the lining of the esophagus, irritation and inflammation will result in causing heartburn. The abnormal gastric juice flows through the Esophageal Sphincter ( the valve between the esophagus and the abdomen)

Heartburn or acid reflux will need treatment especially when a night time attack happens.? Night-time attacks have similar symptoms as daylight attacks, except that night time attacks include snoring, the restlessness that include fatigue and even abnormalities in breathing throughout the night? Attacks during the night are more severe than attacks during daytime.

Many people with heartburn understand the cause of their condition. However, there are still many people who have? no essential knowledge of how heartburn can be triggered. The simplest answer is food. Many people experience acid reflux after they have had a big meal because of the inappropriate compression of food causing the acidic reflux to occur. Foods such as spicy foods, chocolate, fried and fatty foods can cause this condition. In fact, even citrus fruits have a tendency to flare up heartburn.

If you have been diagnosed with the acid reflux disease, you should try preventive medication and treatments to help in its cure. One way that can help to reduce the events is, changing your lifestyle. A change in lifestyle can really help free acid to keep heartburn from occurring. In addition, you should avoid eating a heavy large meal all at once. Eat small meals instead of large ones.. Eating large meals can increase pressure in the esophageal sphincter and at the same time expand your stomach. Other preventive measures include maintaining your weight, avoid alcoholic beverages, and did not wear tight fit clothing around the waist because all these factors can cause acid reflux.

Acid reflux is a common condition that can lead to severe problems if left untreated.. If you are diagnosed with this condition always take necessary precautions by learning them in order to avoid more serious problems that could even affect the respiratory system. Because this is a serious problem,? people with heartburn should seek advice on how to prevent and treat this particular condition.

Study extends the 'ecology of fear' to fear of parasites

ScienceDaily (Feb. 27, 2012) ? Here's a riddle: What's the difference between a tick and a lion? The answer used to be that a tick is a parasite and the lion is a predator. But now those definitions don't seem as secure as they once did. A tick also hunts its prey, following vapor trails of carbon dioxide, and consumes host tissues (blood is considered a tissue), so at least in terms of its interactions with other creatures, it is like a lion -- a very small, eight-legged lion.

Ecologists are increasingly finding it useful to think of parasites, such as ticks, as micro-predators and have been mining predator-prey theory for insights into parasite-host ecology.

One of those insights is that predators don't just graze at will, and prey aren't just so many steaks in a freezer. Instead, prey make predators work for dinner by moving elsewhere, being vigilant, flocking together or taking other defensive measures.

This notion that prey are not victims but players, as strongly motivated by fear as the predators are by hunger, is called the ecology of fear.

Work at Washington University in St. Louis, just published in EcoHealth, shows that the ecology of fear, like other concepts from predator-prey theory, also extends to parasites.

Raccoons and squirrels would give up food, the study demonstrated, if the area was infested with larval ticks. At some level, they are weighing the value of the abandoned food against the risk of being parasitized.

This new understanding of the interaction between ticks and host animals has implications for human health because the ticks are vectors of several newly emerging diseases. The more we know about what determines the distributions of ticks in their environment, the better prepared we will be to avoid human exposure to these diseases.

Do host animals fear ticks?

The study's first author, Alexa Fritzsche, collaborated with Brian Allan, PhD, now an assistant professor of entomology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

By the time Allan finished his postdoctoral fellowship at WUSTL, he had acquired a reputation as the tick man of Tyson Research Center, the university's biological field station.

So it was only natural that when Fritzsche, then Allan's summer research technician, was given time to do research of her own, she decided to see if the ecology of fear extends to ticks.

Fritzsche now is a doctoral candidate in the Odum School of Ecology at the University of Georgia and is studying the role that animal behavior plays in determining the risk of parasitism

Near St. Louis, the most prevalent tick is Amblyommaamericanum, called the lone star tick because the adult female has a white splotch on her back. Its larval stage heavily parasitizes small mammals, such as gray and fox squirrels and the common raccoon.

Because the ticks can weaken an animal either by exposing it to pathogens or simply by consuming vast quantities of its blood, it made sense to ask whether the host animals were aware of the ticks and able to avoid them.

"It really comes down to natural selection," Fritzsche says. "There is a cost to being parasitized, and if you don't develop ways to detect the parasite and avoid it, you're not going to do well in the long term."

What will they give up to avoid ticks?

But what makes sense is not always true. To find out whether host animals avoided ticks, Fritzsche set up an experiment at Tyson, a 2,000-acre outdoor laboratory for ecosystem studies largely covered by oak-hickory forest that is representative of many of the natural areas in Missouri.

The study was designed to take advantage of the fact that lone star tick larvae (sometimes called "seed ticks") emerge from eggs in the leaf litter in mid- to late-summer and tick densities increase as more and more ticks emerge.

Larval tick densities were measured by dragging a cloth to which "questing" ticks became attached, and counting and identifying the ticks in the laboratory.

"The tick larvae are only about the size of a poppyseed," Fritzsche says, "but they are present in such great numbers that you can look down and see a mass of them on the ground.

"When you dragged over one of these 'tick bombs,'" she says, "the ticks could scatter across the cloth within seconds. I walked with a loop of duct-tape around my hand and as soon as I saw a mass, I'd hit the cloth with the duct tape and they'd be stuck on the tape."

The animals' response to the ticks was measured by how much food they abandoned, called the giving-up-density (GUD). This metric for assessing tradeoffs between foraging benefits and predation risks is well-established in predator-prey ecology but has only recently been used to assess the ecology of fear in host-parasite interactions.

Run for your lives

Contrary to Fritzsche's expectations, the animals didn't abandon the ground-level trays as soon as the ticks began to emerge.

Over the course of the study, tick numbers increased -- but in a patchy fashion. Some sites had only one tick per 60 square meters; others had 667.

Now, the animals began to abandon more seed from trays at sites with high tick densities regardless of whether they were on the ground or in a tree. The result suggests that the host animals may recognize the threat of parasitism and adjust their patterns of foraging accordingly.

"We thought that they might abandon more seed on the ground than in the tree because ticks are confined to the ground, so we expected more of a local trade-off in foraging," Allan says. "It turned out that the hosts were actually avoiding entire areas of high tick densities, suggesting potentially an even stronger response to the risk of parasitism than we initially hypothesized."

Apparently people have underestimated both the ticks and their furry hosts, which far from blundering about obliviously, are wary of threats to their health the size of the period at the end of this sentence.

Fritzsche is willing to take the ecology of fear even farther -- to include host responses to infections with micro-organisms as well as micro-predators.

Running a temperature helps some amphibians fight parasites such as viruses and fungi. As cold-blooded animals, they can't raise their temperature on their own, but some amphibians will go to the highest rocks where the sun burns brightest to acquire a "behavioral fever" that helps them fight these illnesses.

"Some people are reluctant to attribute this level of 'awareness' to wild animals," Allan says, "but ecologists have established quite clearly that prey will go to great lengths to avoid predation. Given the substantial cost of parasitism to wildlife, it wouldn't be surprising if hosts actively adjust their behaviors to reduce this burden."

After all, it isn't that different from washing your hands.

Antivirus: The silent virtualization killer (InfoWorld)

[unable to retrieve full-text content]InfoWorld - Life in IT is full of onerous tasks. Along with making good backups and maintaining a solid patching regimen, you must ensure that multiple levels of antimalware software are properly deployed. Unfortunately, in heavily virtualized environments, antivirus can go beyond being a pain to manage and actually become a threat in and of itself. As the saying goes, sometimes the cure is worse than the disease.

Google Drive SDK, Gmail integration hinted at in Google Docs source code

Still wondering if Mountain View's Google Drive service will launch as a Google Docs rebranding? The folks at the Google Operating System blog have some code you might want to peek at, then. Apparently the Docs' source code mentions an SDK connected to the upcoming Google Drive, opening the door for third party app support. The code hints at deeper Gmail integration too, "Say goodbye to email attachments and hello to real time collaboration," it says, "Drag anything shared with you to My Drive for easy access." If Drive turns out to be more than a hefty Docs update, at the very least it seems clear that the new service will play nice with El Goog's other web apps -- after all, isn't that what that consolidated privacy policy is supposed to be about?

Google Drive SDK, Gmail integration hinted at in Google Docs source code originally appeared on Engadget on Fri, 24 Feb 2012 23:50:00 EDT. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

How Physical Therapy Differs from Chiropractic Care

Physical therapy and chiropractic care both aim to relieve the patient's pain, improve flexibility and mobility and restore function. Both are effective treatment methods offering good results when provided by experienced physical therapists and chiropractors. The question how physical therapy differs from chiropractic care is one that arises in our minds, when considering treatment for a particular condition.

Chiropractic Treatment Focuses on the Functioning of the Spinal Column

Chiropractic treatment lays emphasis on the functioning of the spinal column. Chiropractors identify, treat and prevent disorders pertaining to the spine, mainly spinal subluxations. Chiropractic care ensures that the patient benefits from a strong and healthy spine and thereby a fully efficient nervous system that is indispensable with regard to good health.

Treatment procedure is mainly spinal manipulation, which may be combined with electrotherapeutic modalities, soft tissue therapy, and exercises. Chiropractic manipulation or chiropractic adjustment is a hands-on treatment technique that corrects misaligned spine or joints, and restores their proper function. What distinguishes chiropractic care is that this treatment supports the body's natural healing powers rather than rely on surgery or medication. Conditions that can benefit from chiropractic treatment include:
  • Neck pain, shoulder pain, knee pain
  • Arthritic pain
  • Whiplash
  • Sciatica
  • Herniated disc
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Arm/leg pain
  • Headaches

Chiropractors may also provide dietary as well as disease prevention advice, recommend ice packs for relieving pain, and give instruction on relaxation techniques.

Here are the benefits offered by chiropractic treatment:

  • Strengthens the body and improves blood circulation
  • Reduces response to painful stimuli
  • Increases flexibility and vitality
  • Reduces muscle spasm, stress, inflammation
  • Improves? immunity of the body
  • Improves joint coordination
  • Encourages natural healing

Physical Therapy Focuses on Restoring, Maximizing and Developing One's Functional Ability

Physical therapy is provided for patients with particular physical conditions that have been accurately diagnosed, and physical therapy treatment is found to be necessary for smooth recovery.

Physical therapy rehabilitation takes into consideration the social, emotional and psychological well-being of the patient, apart from their physical welfare. Individuals who have been in accidents, patients with fractures, injuries, physical disabilities, low back pain, shoulder and neck pain, arthritis, stroke and other medical conditions can benefit from customized physical therapy programs. Physical therapy rehabilitation centers provide treatments such as:
  • Massage and myofascial release
  • Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation (TENS)
  • Ice or heat to eliminate muscle spasm and inflammation
  • Ultrasound to treat soft tissue injuries
  • Traction

Physical therapists also utilize stretching and strengthening exercises, hydrotherapy or aquatherapy, muscle energy techniques and joint mobilization for excellent results. Rehabilitative exercises and home exercise programs are also recommended as part of physical therapy treatment.

Conditions treated include:

  • Headaches
  • Pain from whiplash
  • Arthritis
  • Knee pain, back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain
  • Sciatica
  • Sports injuries
  • Herniated discs
  • Work-related injuries
  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Ankle and foot problems, and a host of other ailments

Benefits Offered by Physical Therapy

  • Visible and lasting improvement in the patient's life
  • Enhance and maintain strength of muscles and endurance
  • Restore range of motion
  • Improve co-ordination
  • Reduce pain, muscle spasms, swelling and inflammation
  • Promote healing of soft tissue injury
  • Reduce stress
  • Improve mobility and function
  • Prevent future injury

Chiropractic treatment and physical therapy differ in principle and the mode of treatment provided. However, both ensure lasting relief from pain and successful restoration of normal function, thus improving the quality of patients' lives. It is important to seek treatment at a reputable pain management center that follows a multidisciplinary approach to ensure optimum results for its patients.

The Gaming-For-Good Trend [Need To Know: SXSWi] @PSFK

As we all begin to look forward to the interactive section of South By South West in March, PSFK has identified five key trends that readers should be monitoring during the festival. One of these trends, we have coined ?Gaming-For-Good.?

Fueled by the ability to connect and gather players from across the world and motivate them to participate by injecting competitive aspects and rewards into structured play, games are growing up and being seen as agents of change. The ability to scale enables these platforms to prompt positive action and overcome challenges on both an individual and societal level with implications for a growing number of areas from science and medicine to education and the environment. Whether improving health, fundraising for charity or solving previously unsolvable problems, games are encouraging personal and social good.

One pertinent example of this trend that continues to come up in our research is ?Using Gaming To Leverage Collective Manpower.?

Gamers Assist In Cracking The Aids Puzzle

Fold.it is a web-based platform for collaborating on scientific research that allows gamers to compete against one another to design new proteins which could be used to help prevent or treat diseases like HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer?s and Cancer. Developed by researchers at the US based University Of Washington, the platform asks online players to build 3D models of protein molecules online to earn points and status based off their problem solving abilities. Researchers recently took advantage of the platform by inviting gamers to compete in configuring the structure of a retrovirus enzyme related to HIV/AIDS. The resulting breakthrough in configuring the 3D structure of the protein in question took players just weeks though the puzzle had stumped scientists for years.

Other Manifestations:

1. Players Achieve Game Milestones In Overcoming Health Related Challenges

2.?Motivating Everyday Green Behavior With Real Rewards

3.?Game Penalizes Exercisers For Failing To Get To The Gym

4.?Prep School Students Compete In Real-Life Game For Totaling Zero Emissions

5.?Could Games Be The New Antidepressants?

6.?Educational Game Leverages Kinect To Make Learning Fun

People to follow around this trend:

Jane McGonigal: Jane is the New York Times bestselling author of Reality is Broken: Why Games Make Us Better and How They Can Change the World. @avantgame

Aaron Dignan: Aaron is author of the book Game Frame about the interplay between games and motivations in everyday life. @aarondignan

Likewise, if you could date any of the unclassified material at the end, that would be good to.

A Zillion Kisses ?2012

By Arlene Uslander

Relaxing on the living room couch after a morning of errands, I stared idly out the ??window, admiring the sprawling crab apple tree on my front lawn. ?Now in full bloom, it had started out as a scrawny twig thirty-four years ago.

A frail, elderly man and a small child ???a blonde, curly haired girl ???walked past my window. ?The man was tightly clasping the little girl?s hand in the protective, caring way that a grandparent holds onto a young child. ?The pair smiled at one another, the old man bending his head; the little girl straining hers upward. ?I would have given anything, at that moment, to have a camera close by. (This was before the days of IPOD phones that did everything but prepare dinner and lay out one?s clothes for work for the following day.) The expression of joy that passed between adult and child could have been adequately captured only by a photograph, not by mere words.

?Then they walked on, slowly, ever so slowly. ?It was, after all, a hot day, and the old man could not walk very fast. ?And, it was, after all, a long street, and the little girl?s legs weren?t long enough to move very fast. ?I watched them as they walked, their strides matching perfectly.

I suddenly found myself thinking far back to a similar scene, on another street, in another time, when an old man held a little girl by the hand. ?They, too, walked along slowly, sharing special dreams and important secrets, the way only a grandparent and grandchild can. ?My grandfather and me.

And I also recall a question one of my sons asked me at about age ten. ?How tall was Grandpa?? he wanted to know, while turning the pages of a time worn family album. ?Oh, about five feet ten,? I replied.

?Is that all?? my son asked, an incredulous look on his face. ?I remember him as being much taller. ?To me, Grandpa was a giant!?

When I used to teach school, I was very much aware of how most of the children felt about their grandparents. ?I saw the excitement on their faces and heard it in their voices when they told me they were going to sleep over night at Grandma and Grandpa?s.

I heard the fear in a child?s voice when a grandparent was ill and the child didn?t know when or if he or she ?would see that grandparent again.

?I saw the tears streaming down cheeks and felt the anguish in hearts when a grandparent died. ?I still remember seven year old Jill saying, ?When my great-grandpa died, I was so sad: I cried twenty-four Kleenex boxes full of tears.? ?Julie, who had recently lost a grandmother and wasn?t about to be outdone by Jill, reported, ?And I cried a whole river of tears!?

?Another time when the children were given an assignment to write about whether they would rather travel to the past or the future if they could take a trip in a time machine, I remember Alex writing: ?To the past ???definitely to the past. ?I?d like to travel back to when my grandpa was young so we could do so many fun things together, like playing baseball and running up and down hills.?

When I once asked a first-grade class what a grandparent is, this was one youngster?s definition: ?A grandparent is someone with a big, soft lap, a jar full of cookies, and a zillion kisses just for you.?

There are many kinds of love: the love between a man and a woman, between parent and child, between sister and brother, between dear friends. ?But I really don?t think there is any kind of love as pure and deep, as unselfish and undemanding? as enduring, and as unconditional ? as the love between grandparent and grandchild.

?A zillion kisses, you know, can last a very, very long time, leaving a whole lifetime of warm memories.
Arlene Uslander is the proud grandmother of 4 grandchildren, ages 20, 19, 18, and 5 (from her two sons and their wives). The three older ones are now at the age/stage where the relationship between grandparent and grandchildren is one of friendship as much as anything else. And the 5-year-old, who came along unexpectedly? There is no way to describe the joy he has brought into the lives of Arlene and her husband, Ira. Just no way!!!

Arlene is the author of 16 books, including That?s What Grandparents Are For, an illustrated book of verse celebrating the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren; (she is currently working on a sequel, That?s What Grandchildren Are For), and her latest publication, which she co-authored/edited with Brenda Warneka, is ?an award-winning anthology of true inspirational stories entitled: The Mystery of Fate: Common Coincidence or Divine Intervention? He?s thought-about a legend in the world of basketball. The report rating of 5,987 that he had set continues to be unbroken within the NBA. Exceptionally talented, Michael Jordan has led the US crew in Olympics which gained gold medals in 1984 and 1992. With his spirited comebacks within the NBA league, the name Michael Jordan has become a synonym for the word resilience.

Backboard was Added
The rationale behind including backboard to the basket is sort of interesting. The audience who watched the sport from the balcony used to intrude by dealing with the ball. Incorporation of the backboard prevented any such interferences by the audience.

Brown and Orange Balls
Earlier, the basketballs were brown in color. This colour however, hampered the visibility and necessitated using another color. Tony Hinkle began the search for such a brand new shade in the 1950s. The orange shade was finally selected.

Variations of Basketball
The sport of basketball is played in many various forms. Examples of these basketball variations are as follows: beach basketball, water basketball, wheelchair basketball, unicycle basketball, streetball, slamball and dunk hoops.

Basketball has advanced quite a bit after its inception in 1891. The basketball suggestions and methods like taking pictures, dribbling and passing developed with the game. Originally restricted to few countries, basketball has now grow to be widespread worldwide.

Comcast backs Diddy, Magic Johnson channels

Comcast will launch four minority-owned networks on its cable-TV systems in the next two years, including channels spearheaded by music mogul Sean "P. Diddy" Combs and NBA great Magic Johnson.

Two of the networks are majority black-owned while two are majority American-Hispanic-owned, with all of them programming in English, the Philadelphia-based Comcast said.

(Msnbc.com is a joint venture of Microsoft and NBC Universal. Comcast holds a controlling interest in the latter.)

It was unclear how much of an on-camera role, if any, Combs and Johnson might play on their respective network.

The new channels, which in all will total 10 rolling out in the next eight years, are part of an agreement reached by Comcast with the FCC and Department of Justice when it was allowed to become majority owner of NBCUniversal.

The networks announced Tuesday include:

Revolt, conceived by Combs and MTV veteran Andy Schuon, will have programming that includes music videos, live performances, music news and interviews.

"Revolt is the first channel created entirely from the ground up in this new era of social media," said Combs, who described the channel as "immediate, like today's social networks."

In a video posted on YouTube, Combs said Revolt will put artists in charge.

"It's your channel to do what you want to do, how you want to do it," he said, addressing them, with the result "uncut, raw, uncensored."

Revolt is scheduled to launch in 2013.

Aspire, to be led by Johnson in partnership with family-oriented channel GMC TV, will dedicate itself to enlightening and positive programming aimed at black families. It will air movies, documentaries, music and comedy, as well as faith and inspirational programs.

"Aspire will be a network that encourages and challenges African-Americans to reach for their dreams," said Johnson, adding that it "will celebrate our heritage, our groundbreaking achievements and the fearless talent that has shaped American culture."

It will launch this summer.

El Rey, proposed by Hollywood director Robert Rodriguez and FactoryMade Ventures executives John Fogelman and Cristina Patwa, is designed to be an action-packed, general entertainment network for Latino and general audiences. The programming mix will include reality, scripted and animated series, and will feature Hispanic producers, celebrities and public figures.

"We are passionate about creating a wildly entertaining destination that we can be proud of by appealing to both Latino and mass market audiences," said Rodriguez, a successful filmmaker known for the "Spy Kids" films.

El Rey is scheduled to debut by January 2014.

BabyFirst Americas, from Spanish-language TV veteran Constantino "Said" Schwarz, is designed for infants and very young children, as well as their parents. It will emphasize the importance of early development of verbal, math and motor skills, the network said.

"BabyFirst Americas aims to bring the essential academic building blocks for kindergarten readiness into the home," Schwarz said.

The first of the networks to arrive, it is planned to be on the air this April.

These four networks, and the six others yet to be announced, are being chosen from more than 100 proposals, Comcast said. Each will be added as part of Comcast's digital basic tier of service.

The company, which is the nation's largest cable TV provider, did not mention in its announcement other cable systems planning to carry the new networks.
